Here at Holy Trinity, we have created a bespoke and innovative curriculum to suit the uniqueness of our children, our school and the local area.

It is our belief that every child deserves to aspire and succeed, to lead a purposeful life as a valued citizen.

So we asked the whole school community – 'how can we best achieve this?' and most importantly, we asked our pupils – 'what and how would you like to learn?'

Listening to the whole school community and considering the key learning knowledge and skills that our children will require for their future life, we have built a curriculum that provides an ambitious and aspiring learning journey for our children.

Our key focus areas - Language Development, Identity, Independence, Critical Thinking, Spirituality and Knowledge of the World - are embedded throughout our curriculum, providing innovative and rich opportunities to enhance essential knowledge and skills.

To foster a whole school holistic approach, we have divided the curriculum into six topics, which are taught across the whole school with each year group focusing on a different learning block.

Every topic starts with a ‘big question' and through research, debate and discussion, children steer their own learning journey, creating high levels of engagement and mastery. Every year, the knowledge and skills that our children gain develop progressively due to the way our curriculum themes build over time.

Our first topic – Journeys Through Time, Place and Mind, enables pupils to develop their sense of identity, citizenship and how people’s journeys through time have shaped Great Britain.

From learning about family, home and heritage in Reception to Windrush and migration in Key Stage 2, our children examine and explore how we have arrived in today’s world.

Each topic has a strong subject focus with rich real-life experiences to support their learning.

Our children are able to embed their learning through trips and visits to places of culture, local interest, places of work, community and worship. In our topic – The Power of the Arts, every child will develop the skills and knowledge of an artistic discipline from architecture to the performing arts.

The topic – In the Beginning… our children are scientists, investigating early life on Earth – dinosaurs to finding solutions to climate change.

Let’s Discover… provides pupils with the opportunities to examine a vast range of discoveries from new technology to space travel.

The World Within London enables pupils to deepen their knowledge of key historical events such The Blitz, that have shaped and changed London of today.

Finally our topic Healthy Living, Healthy Minds empowers our pupils with the knowledge and understanding that a healthy lifestyle and good mental wellbeing are key in becoming a happy and well person.

Our Holy Trinity children are the future, and our core aim is to enable them to be whatever they may want to be. Our curriculum is the launch pad to guide them in becoming successful and responsible citizens of our future world.
